School Savings Club
Our first Primary School Savings Scheme opened in St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School. Archdeacon John Lewis Church of Wales Primary School followed a few months later.
We now have Savings Clubs in 16 Primary Schools, with plans to establish more.
Each school has developed the scheme slightly differently, but they all inject their own culture and personality, and we remain hugely proud of them all.
Even if only one child saves money each week, one more child and one more family is engaging with their financial education and wellbeing. Our ultimate ambition is to see every Primary School in Bridgend County running its own Savings Club.
Bridgend LifeSavers Credit Union
A Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial co-operative – which means that they are owned and controlled by its members. Credit Unions are regulated like banks, so your money is protected, and any savings will be eligible for an annual dividend (or ‘interest’ payment).
Bridgend Lifesavers Credit Union was formed in 2003 following the merger of the Bridgend County Credit Union and the hospital-based Lifesavers Credit Union. For over 17 years, the credit union has supported financial inclusion, education and money skills for all community members.
